LOCATION AND HOURS OF POLLING PLACE
At the Spring General Election to be held on April 2, 2019, in the Village of Montfort, the following polling place locations will be used for the wards indicated:

Notice of Meeting of the Local Board of Canvassers
At the close of voting on Election Day, pursuant to the provisions of Wis. Stat. § 19.84, the Election Inspectors at each polling place will convene as the Local Canvassing Board for the purpose of conducting the local canvass pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 7.51. This meeting will be open to the public pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§ 19.81-89.
VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 10 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.
You must make a request for an absentee ballot in writing.
Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the primary or election or both. You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, email or in person.
Making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail
The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is:
4:30 pm on the fifth day before the election, Thursday, March 28, 2019.
Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.
Voting an absentee ballot in person
You may also request and vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office or other specified location during the days and hours specified for casting an absentee ballot in person.

No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.
The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place before the polls close on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.

Public Information Meeting and Public Hearing for Improvements to North, Johnson and Wisconsin Streets in the Village of Montfort,
Grant County CDBG PF 18-21
Proposed Improvements
The Village of Montfort is proposing to reconstruct North Street from Fountain to Johnson; Wisconsin Street from North to Oak; and Johnson Street from North to Oak in the Village of Montfort. The project will include reconstruction of the street, retaining walls, curb and gutter, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main.
Please Attend
All persons interested in the North Street, Wisconsin Street and Johnson Street reconstruction project are encouraged to attend a Public Information Meeting and the Public Hearing on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019. The public is invited to attend and learn more about the CDBG program, to help identify additional community development needs, and to comment on the activities proposed as part of the CDBG project. The informational meeting will be held from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Montfort Community Building (102 East Park Street, Montfort, WI), and will be conducted as an informal open house. The Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019, at 7:00 PM at the Montfort Community Building.
Information Available
Jewell Associates Engineers, Inc. staff members on behalf of the Village of Montfort will be on hand during the scheduled meetings to discuss the proposed improvements. Project plans, location maps, and other exhibits will be on display to illustrate the work in detail.

We want your thoughts about the pros and cons of this project. If there are issues you would like to discuss, please attend the Public Information Meeting at a time that is convenient for you. NOTICE OF VILLAGE CAUCUS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to the electors of the Village of Montfort, in the Counties of Grant and Iowa, State of Wisconsin, that a Village Caucus for said Village will be held at the Montfort Community Building Auditorium on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. to nominate candidates for terms to for Village President and Village Trustees to be voted for at the Village Election to be held on the first Tuesday in April of 2019.
TERMS TO BE NOMINATED:
The Village President position for 2-year term. The current Village President, James Schmitz term is to expire April 16, 2019.
Three Board of Trustee positions for 2-year terms. The following board member terms are to expire April 16, 2019. Patrick Raimer, Christopher Schnulle-Simons and Patty Koestler.
